@roxybuddychanel magic was the best PG of his time, he played a big role in making basketball more popular around the world, everyone started watching basketball becuz of players like him, so naturally everyone thinks he’s the best PG ever… but times have changed and the skill level has greatly improved over the years, players today r better than the 80’s… cp3 can shoot better, is faster, a better passer, and can handle the ball better, magic wouldn’t be able to stay in front of him
@bsilver10 historically great….as in a poll of current and past GM’s or NBA historians. they would tell you that the lakers and celtic (and even the sixers) of the 80’s fall into that category. Houston Rockets and Jazz of the 90’s would never fall into that category. Houston won only when Jordan retired. Jazz NEVER won. the Lakers and Celtics of the 80’s had to get by great teams (each other and the sixers)…the Bulls of the 90’s didnt.
Hmmm, historically great, not an official award or recognition. Could be decided based on personal bias. I can consider houston and jazz as historically great during 90’s, maybe since the bulls is there that’s why they were not enough historically great. Just like during the time of magic ang bird, no other teams were historically great. historically great = great during the past, not a complicated term.

@SaltWaterMoose name one team form the last 7-8 years that will ever be looked upon as hitorically great teams. there arent any. im a die hard lakers fan. they have won the last two nba titles, but they are not a special team. lakers/celtics/sixers from the 80’s would have their way with todays champions. also, expansion in the 90’s made the 90’s one of the crappiest eras in the nba. the Bulls never had to beat a single team considered historically great (no, the 1991 Lakers were not great)

Chris Paul? Magic would take a guy like that to the post and abuse him. it would force a PG like Paul to gaurd a bigger shooting guard or a small forward. thats a problem. there were loaded teams in the 80’s (lakers/sixers/celtics) that WOULD win championships today
